Time to Work on the Annual Photo Book!
This will be the fifth year in our family tradition of creating an annual family photo book. We take tons of digital pictures all year long and we have a real tendency to just take the pictures and forget about them later - since they're electronic images we never seem to look at them again. We do archive the pictures on CDs that we keep in a carrier, but its not much fun to flip through that
Once the kids came along we decided we had to do something more with the pictures so we started creating an annual family "yearbook" with our photos, which we order online and give out as Christmas presents to grandparents, etc.
The books are really neat - they're perfect bound with linen covers and you get to pick the colors, themes, how many pages, how many pictures per page, and so on. Now its become a habit to collect copies of all our favorite digital pix in a file labeled for the year on my computer so that they're easy to get together at the end of year. I like to arrange the photos chronologically in the book so you can actually see the children growing and I dedicate whole pages or even several pages to big events like birthdays and holidays. We treasure the books and it seems like they get bigger every year. We've ordered our books every year so far from Photoworks.com
because they have terrific coupon deals and we've always been pleased with the books and the service. I have to admit though, that this year we're squeezing every penny till it screams, so I'm gonna try the new service they have at WalMart.com
. Photoworks.com's
books start at about $12.99 each, while Walmart's
start at around $6.96 each, and that's way too good a deal to pass up. I'm hopeful that the quality will be just as good, but I don't see how I can go wrong with a book full of photos of loved ones!
